Healthy Teeth & Gums

I've been making my own toothpaste for years and have played around with a lot of different recipes. I've found nothing more effective than baking soda. It polishes and whitens teeth naturally and gently. I've also included a herbal mouthwash that's easy to make and great for your gums!

Toothpaste

2 tablespoons coconut oil
2 tablespoons bentonite clay  
2 tablespoons baking soda
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon dried ginger
15-10 drops essential oil of your choice (I like to use spearmint or cinnamon)

Mix all the ingredients and store it in an airtight container, I use a little jar. Each time you brush your teeth spoon a little of this paste on you toothbrush and brush like normal.

The baking soda will whiten your teeth and freshen your breath. Sea salt tightens your gums and ginger fights bacteria while the essential oil provides flavour. The toothpaste might taste saltier than normal, it takes a little getting used to.

It feels good to know that you're using chemical free products. No more plastic tubes and you'll end up saving a lot of money. 

Peppermint Mouthwash

1 cup water
1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
1 teaspoon aloevera juice
6-8 drops peppermint essential oil

This recipe is super easy to make. Combine all the ingredients and put them in a jar. Shake before each use. Make sure to use this mouthwash within a few days.
