Calendula is used in many products to disinfect minor wounds and treat infections of the skin. The herb stimulates the production of collagen at wound sites to help minimize scarring. Comfrey contains a substance called allantoin, this is the main healing ingredient; it encourages the rapid growth of cells. These herbs together help soothe skin irritations and repair tiny cuts caused by shaving. Witch Hazel is a mild astringent, vegetable glycerine helps moisturize skin and sandalwood calms inflammation.
2 Tablespoons dried organic calendula
2 Tablespoons dried comfrey leaf
1 Cup witch hazel
1 teaspoon vegetable glycerine
20 drops of essential oil (sandalwood is an excellent choice but you can also use Lavender, Chamomile, Eucalyptus)
Steep the dried calendula and comfrey leaf in the witch hazel, in a sealed jar for 2-3 weeks. Strain with a nut milk bag into a container, add vegetable glycerine and essential oil. Shake well before use and apply it to your skin after shaving.
