I know the Vancouver yoga scene pretty well and have dipped into almost every studio for at least a month. These two studios happen to be my favourite and it is purely by coincidence that they are both by donation. So, if you're travelling on a budget and still want to get a good practice in, these are the two studios I would recommend.
Karma Teachers (click for schedule)
Karma Teachers is everything you would expect from a yoga studio; it's warm, inviting, simple, beautiful and they have an open door policy, meaning they open their doors to anyone, no matter what your budget. The studio is located in the downtown east side, which is a sketchier neighbourhood in Vancouver. You have to go into an alley to get to the entrance - if you're new to the neighbourhood, I recommend going during the day for your first class to get the hang of it. I promise the area is safer than it might look. They offer six classes a day and the studio is run by volunteer teachers. They offer a variety of classes from yin to flow to ecstatic to Sivananda. They even have a Power Rock class, a flow class to metal/rock music, it's really fun. I've taken quite a few classes here. Overall a great by donation or free studio to check out if you're in Vancouver.

One Yoga for the People (click for schedule)
This is one of my favourite yoga studios. It is a "by donation" studio but the suggested donation is $14, I put it here because the quality of teachers is really high and it's one of the cheaper drop in rates in Vancouver. (They also wouldn't turn you down if you had less than $14) This studio mostly offers vinyasa and power classes. It's a gorgeous studio and I always leave their classes feeling serene and rejuvenated. It's located on Hastings street. Look for the big white lion sign, you have to go through a door and the studio is located upstairs on the second floor. It has the heir of a serious yoga studio, so if you really want to get your practice on, this is the place. If you happen to be in town when Ryan Leier or Dustin are around, go to one of their classes! All the teachers are passionate and the studio has an excellent vibe.
